#1 Thing to Do When Preparing Your Home for Sale
One of the top questions that sellers ask is “what's the number one thing you can do to prepare your home for sale?
Ryan Haley, broker and owner of Atlantic Shores Sotheby’s International Realty, thinks that one item you can do that probably costs the least is to de-clutter and de-personalize the space.
This is very easy to do. All you need to do is go through and thin things out. For instance, if you have too much furniture in a room, you might want to move a few pieces. If you have too many items on your walls, too many knick-knacks, too many family photos, you might want to thin it out.
Ryan thinks that, at times, it would be good to have some personalization, especially if it's a photo of the family enjoying the beach. This is great.
However, if your fridge is completely covered with way too many family pictures, that might be something you'd want to thin out and de-personalize a little bit, prior to listing your home for sale.
So, remember, the number one thing you can do that actually costs you zero dollars is to de-personalize and declutter.
